Emmet has been tackling energy issues since he worked for Environmental Progress, where he joined the research team for Michael Shellenberger’s best-seller Apocalypse Never: Why Environmental Alarmism Harms Us All.

Since then, he has written on energy and industrial history for outlets like The American Conservative, American Affairs, The Spectator World among others. He currently serves as a contributing editor for Compact Magazine. He also hosts the Nuclear Barbarians podcast/Substack.

Emmet has been invited to speak on energy issues in both America and Europe. In 2022 and 2023, he won Emergent Ventures fellowships for his work on energy issues. In 2024, he received a Novak Journalism Fellowship for investigating America’s coming electricity crisis.

He grew up in the Chicago suburbs and attended undergrad at Bennington College in Vermont. Emmet received his Master’s from St. John’s College in Santa Fe. He lives in Chicago.
